   Code switching in families often appears as a compromise for parents to better understand their children, yet this act does more than conversation; it actively challenges the common misconception of incorrect english. Through personal moments with family members , the form of non standard English is not seen as a flaw but as a way to deeply describe one’s emotion .In the excerpt, the idea  of code-switching with one’s family to idealize one form of language to another  challenges the stereotype of incorrect or improper English, helping the audience realize the generational and emotional power of her mother’s language. As a writer and a daughter of immigrant parents, the speaker uses both perspectives  to discuss code-switching in daily life while communicating with her mother, using her as a credible source. For example she  recounts a moment when she had to adjust the way she was speaking to her mother for her to better understand her but in this act code switching was rooted in respect. 

        The speaker shares  anecdotes such as translating  mothers words for others while engaging in conversations revealing the love, frustration, and deep understanding embedded in these interactions. She describes how her mothers words, though grammatically incorrect , carry meaning and emotion , such as when discussing personal matters with directness and warmth .             These stories resonate with readers in similar family dynamics, particularly those who have navigated through linguistic differences within their own families whether through heritage or generational divides.            The emotional power of the mothers language is most shown in the speaker’s reflection.  “Her language, as I hear it, is vivid, direct, full of observation and imagery. This reflection redefines the fact that the mothers form of  the English language is their own personal source of wisdom and imagination . The expressions vivid,direct, full of observation  and imagery are definite retaliation against the calumniation of deficiency  ; an retaliation that grammatical imperfection is no obstacle on the contrary, it is the spring board of expression . This language determined the whole world out of the speaker, rich in emotional tones and wisdom of ages, although judged by social norms. In its respect of it as formative , the excerpt reverses the stereotype , what so far is thought of as broken, it is the lively channel that shows a natural  sense of life and love and identity across all language barriers.

 Code switching   allows the excerpt to turn what society deems as a weakness into an Incredible strength, showing  that a form of  nonstandard English is not in any way your weakness, or misuse  of the language, but it is a rich authentic tool that holds generations of emotional depth, wisdom, and truth. The process of making speech in the family  does not erode language in riches; it shows the fact that true communication is not grammatical perfection but it is the readiness to establish contact with others despite language differences.      What starts as a mere compromise to make apparent to  realize, and understand, turns out to be a revolution against fix rules, and that language is not a master to serve, but as a tool to be used to connect the unpolished words, used by the mother, which were initially disregarded or presented as a whole, with the experience of life, the legacy of culture and emotional reality attached each word through this code switching does not only respect the narrative of a single family, but also the universal capacity of nonstandard speech to influence the way they perceive an experience and understand the world.
